What is Tippie Thrive?

Tippie Thrive is a program focused on students’ emotional and mental wellness. The program is for the students and lead by the students at Tippie. Tippie Thrive normalizes mental health and builds skills of wellness and resilience. 

The mission of Tippie Thrive is to build emotional resilience and student success by providing opportunities for awareness, reflection, education, and support of mental and emotional needs through peer connections.

Wellness and resilience at Tippie

Wellness and resilience are a priority at the Tippie College of Business. Check out a few of the initiatives focused on this priority:

  • For students led by students. Student leadership to assess, develop, and lead initiatives.
  • Elective multi-sessions for personal growth and overall wellness.
  • Trainings on mental health topics to support others.
  • Workshops to develop self-awareness and skills.
  • Interactive awareness events to normalize mental health.
  • Lessons embedded into required courses of Tippie Advantage.

Thrive Advocates

Thrive Advocates oversee the vision and programming of Tippie Thrive. Students in the Thrive Advocate role assess needs of their fellow students and work with Thrive Program Directors to develop programming to meet these needs. If you’re interested in becoming a Thrive Advocate the application process opens mid-September for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Thrive Trainers

Thrive Come and Go events

Tippie Thrive hosts Come and Go events focused on caring for your mental health, decreasing stigma surrounding mental health, providing quick and easy coping skills, and promoting self-reflection and feeling good about yourself. Be on the lookout for information about Thrive events for Fall 2025.

Suicide Prevention Training

In Fall 2023, the Tippie College of Business held its first Suicide Prevention Training in partnership with the Green Bandana Project. Throughout this time over 150 students have participated and learned about ways they can support, communicate, and connect a peer to resources if they are feeling suicidal or experiencing a mental health crisis.
