Before You Go
Whether you have selected your study abroad program or are deciding between multiple programs, it is important to review the courses that have been evaluated and approved for credit at Iowa. You can use the business course database to search for business courses offered abroad. As you begin to plan for your time abroad, make sure to keep your academic advisor informed about your program and course options.
Study Abroad Business Course Database
This database allows users to search course evaluations for business courses offered on UI study abroad programs. Non-business courses like gen eds or other major/minor courses are not listed in this database.
If you are participating in the CIMBA program, you can find their course offerings on the CIMBA website.
Below are a few tips for using this system:
- You can search courses by the country where you plan to study, study abroad program name, UI course prefix (FIN, MGMT, MKTG, etc.), and/or UI course number (FIN:3000, MGMT:3450, etc.).
- This database includes approved and denied courses so that you can see all evaluations for each program. If a course is denied for direct equivalency to a UI course and you decide to take it anyway, it will count as business elective credit.
- Course evaluations are valid for five years. Please take note of the reevaluation date listed next to the course to ensure the evaluation is valid at the time you plan to submit your Credit Approval Form.
- If you have any questions, please email sydney-johnson@uiowa.edu.
Course Evaluation
If a course you wish to take abroad is not listed in the database, you can submit the course for review through the course evaluation form. Courses are evaluated by the departmental Director of Undergraduate Studies. You will be notified when your course evaluation is complete; this can take a few weeks. Use the button below to send in a course for evaluation.
