About us

The Tippie Senate is the undergraduate student government of the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa. 

The Senate's mission is to foster a vibrant academic community by: representing and advocating for Tippie students and their needs; providing oversight and access to resources; and facilitating a community of belonging. 

The Senate provides recommendations to the Undergraduate Program Office and the Tippie College of Business concerning the educational environment, experience, and resources offered by the college.

The primary objectives of the Tippie Senate are to:

1. Serve as the voice of the Tippie undergraduate student body to advocate for their needs.
2. Provide and promote access to resources in order to create an enhanced educational experience for the student body.
3. Foster a community prioritizing belonging and engagement through targeted initiatives.
4. Oversee and establish policies and procedures and encourage collaboration with Tippie-affiliated student organizations in partnership with the Undergraduate Program Office.
5. Distribute funding allocated by the college to Tippie-affiliated student organizations so they may promote their initiatives and goals within Tippie.
6. Externally promote the Tippie College of Business, both locally and nationally.

Tippie Senate is comprised of an Advisor, Executive Board, and up to 25 General Senators. The Senate is committee-based, with each senator serving on two to three committees—the committees being D&I, Finance, Marketing, Operations, and Ad Hoc (any additional committee as needed). General senate meetings are held weekly, and every senator is expected to attend and engage in all discussions.
