Two tracks, more opportunities
Tippie’s accounting major offers you options. Customize your path depending on where you’d like your journey to lead: A role in public accounting or a non-traditional role in the private sector that requires strong accounting skills.
CPA track
Follow a traditional path to a career in public accounting and start earning the hours you need to take the CPA exam.
Corporate Accounting track
Build a versatile skillset that prepares you for a wide variety of roles in investment banking, financial consulting, corporate accounting, accounting analytics, and more.
Courses and course requirements
All accounting major-level courses (ACCT:3100 and above) must be completed at the University of Iowa.

Our VITA volunteers provide free tax help to taxpayers earning less than $58,000 a year (married taxpayers filing a joint return must have joint income less than $58,000 a year).
Accounting Society
The Accounting Society helps students discover the potential of an accounting degree and aid in their transformation from student to young professional. If you are thinking about accounting as a major, or just want to learn about what accountants do, these meetings are for you!
