Major sheets are helpful planning tools that set out all requirements for the BBA degree in each of our majors. The Standard Admission version is for any student interested in gaining admission to the college regardless of your current program of study. Major sheets are planning tools only. Advising FAQs
View our answers to some of the most commonly asked advising questions.
What is early registration?
Early registration is the three-week period near the end of each semester when currently enrolled Iowa students have exclusive access to classes for the next semester. Students are assigned a date and time during the three-week period when they can register for the next semester. Earliest dates and times are assigned to fourth- and fifth-year students, followed by third-year students, second-year students, and first-year students.
During early registration, all upper-level courses (except those in economics) are restricted for enrollment to those students who have declared a major in the department. This ensures access to major courses for students in that major.
Where do I find my degree audit?
Log into MyUI and choose Degree Audit. Request an audit for your chosen program of study, and make sure to refresh this page to obtain the most recent version. You will need to request different degree audits for multiple programs of study. Please review your degree audit frequently and be prepared to review your audit in advising appointments.
What if I'm not admitted to Tippie and have advising questions?
Tippie offers virtual drop-in advising Monday-Friday 10:30-11:30 a.m. throughout the fall and spring semesters, except for academic breaks. The Tippie UPO also offer drop-in planning workshops where you can meet with Tippie academic advisors each semester.
If you are looking to request permission to enroll in Tippie courses as a non-Tippie student, review our course restriction information for more details about next steps.
How do I meet with my advisor?
Review the Connecting with a Tippie advisor section above for all of these details.
When am I required to meet with my advisor?
Tippie students seeking a BBA in Accounting, Business Analytics & Information Systems, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management, Marketing, or Risk Management & Insurance are required to meet with their Tippie advisor for registration authorization until they have declared one of the aforementioned majors. Once a student has a declared major and maintains good academic standing, they are not required to meet with their academic advisor and are instead encouraged to attend one of our drop-in academic planning workshops, visit virtual drop-in advising hours, or email their advisor for any academic advising questions they may have.
Tippie students seeking a BA or BS in Economics are required to meet with their Tippie advisor for registration authorization in their first semester in Tippie and each semester until they have completed 60 hours.
Students on academic probation are required to meet with their academic advisor for registration authorization, regardless of major declaration and program of study.
What if I am not required to meet with my advisor, but I need help with academic planning?
We encourage you to utilize one of these options to getting your questions answered:
- Attend one of our drop-in academic planning workshops
