How do I research the companies I'm applying with?

Imagine giving a presentation to a room full of people who share expertise in a specific subject matter. Assuming you are not also an expert in this area, would you ever consider stepping to the podium to present without conducting any research in advance?

For most this would be a terrifying proposition. As you begin to prepare for the interview process, you will want to give the same care and consideration to educating yourself on the company, including key vitals on the organization, why you are interested and—most importantly—why you are a fit.
