Welcome to Tippie Graduate & Professional Programs

Welcome to the Tippie community—we're glad you're here! Before your first class begins, there are a few key steps to complete. We've organized everything to make it easy to get started, along with resources and services you can access at the bottom of the page.

Getting started

Step 1. Activate Your HawkID & Set Up Your UI EmailHawkID: You'll need to activate your HawkID and create a password. Set up instructions can be found in an email from be-a-hawkeye@uiowa.edu or on the UI ITS website.

UI Email: After you activate your HawkID, you can access your Office 365 account using your HawkID and password, and your @uiowa.edu email will automatically be generated.

It may take up to 24 hours to access all UI systems, including your uiowa.edu email account.
Step 2. Complete New Student OrientationAll students are required to review all modules and complete the quizzes within New Student Orientation. Orientation is an online, self-paced tutorial designed to guide you through an overview of program details and important steps to prepare you for your first semester.

You'll be able to access the New Student Orientation course approximately 2-3 business days after you activate your HawkID. An email invitation will be sent to your uiowa.edu email account from "University of Iowa <notifications@instructure.com>" with the subject line: Course Invitation.
Step 3. Schedule an Advising AppointmentAfter completing New Student Orientation, you'll be directed to our program website where you can schedule an advising appointment.

Computer requirements & software

We recommend using a computer that meets the specifications outlined on the Computer System Recommendation webpage.

For additional technology considerations, visit the Technology for Online Courses webpage.

Need Microsoft Office?  University of Iowa students can access popular software for a fraction of the retail price through the Campus Software Program. If you only need access temporarily, you can use Virtual Desktop to run the program(s) online. Visit the ITS Software webpage for details.
