  • Thursday, May 15 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. (in-person): Business Record Power Breakfast: Tariffs, Policies, and Navigating Disruption
    • Event Description: Over the past few months, business and nonprofit leaders have been met with a chain of current events nationally and locally that are creating uncertainty around how their organizations will be affected and how to provide steady leadership as circumstances fluctuate on a daily basis.

At the upcoming Power Breakfast, we will convene a panel to offer insight into the local effects of the most pressing economic and social issues on business leaders’ minds. The following are five top issues we have identified with existing or potential effects for Iowa’s business community: changes to federal policy and funding: shifting DEI climate, tariffs and their potential effects, tax policy changes, inflation and interest rates.

The conversation will also dig into how organizations can think about navigating people and brand leadership in a rapidly evolving climate. We know these issues are developing each day and will incorporate new developments as needed to craft a timely discussion.

      Panelists Include: Joel Anderson,
Partner, Government Services, RSM US LLP; Mike McCoy, CEO, NCMIC Group Inc.; Matthew Mitchell, Bâton Global, CEO; Anne Villamil,
Professor and Henry B. Tippie Research Fellow in Economics, University of Iowa; and Jo Ellen Whitney,
Shareholder and Chair, Employment Law and Labor Relations Department, Dentons Davis Brown
