Outstanding Professional Development - The winner of the Outstanding Professional Development award is an organization that displays a significant commitment to professional development. This could be demonstrated by:

  • Organization provided exemplary commitment to the professional development of Tippie College students.
  • Organization collaborated with members of the Tippie College community, larger University and Iowa City community, and/or corporate partners in its efforts.
  • Organization identified an existing problem and demonstrated initiative by seeking ways to address that problem.
  • Organization demonstrated on-going flexibility, creativity, and perseverance in efforts.

Outstanding Advancement of Diversity, Inclusion, and Global Engagement - The winner of the Outstanding Advancement of Diversity, Inclusion, and Global Engagement award is an organization that displays a significant commitment to supporting the development of the cultural competency of its members or the Tippie community. This could be demonstrated by:

  • Organization provided exemplary commitment to helping Tippie College students develop their cultural competence.
  • Organization collaborated with members of the Tippie College community, larger University and Iowa City community, and/or corporate partners in its efforts.
  • Organization identified an existing problem and demonstrated initiative by seeking ways to address that problem.
  • Organization demonstrated on-going flexibility, creativity, and perseverance in efforts.

Outstanding Service to the Community - The winner of the Outstanding Service to the Community award is an organization that displays a significant commitment to serving the larger University and/or Iowa City community. This could be demonstrated by:

  • Organization provided exemplary service, commitment, and strong leadership to the Tippie College and was committed to working with and for others.
  • Organization made a meaningful contribution to The University of Iowa and/or Iowa City community through service.
  • Organization identified an existing problem and demonstrated initiative by seeking ways to address that problem through service.
  • Organization demonstrated on-going flexibility, creativity, and perseverance in efforts.

New Member of the Year - The winner of the New Member of the Year award is a student who has provided a meaningful impact in her/his first year as a member. This could be demonstrated by:

  • Member displayed outstanding academic achievement, valued diversity, motivated and inspired others, and exemplified integrity in all words and actions.
  • Member provided exemplary service, commitment, and strong leadership to the Tippie College community and demonstrated on-going flexibility, creativity, and perseverance in efforts.
  • Member made a meaningful contribution to students, University, and surrounding communities while working with and for others.
  • Member was willing to address existing problems and valued feedback from others.
  • Member made herself/himself available to group members and brought out strengths and talents of individual group members.
  • Member demonstrated initiative by seeking ways to enrich the future.

Advisor of the Year - The winner of the Advisor of the Year award is an Advisor who has displayed significant effort in supporting her/his organization’s growth and development. This could be demonstrated by:

  • Advisor allowed students to take responsibility for their own learning and understanding of the organization while providing advice, encouragement, and support to all members.
  • Advisor conveyed values of integrity and respect; related well to individual students.
  • Advisor made herself/himself available to others, and was approachable and open to new ideas.
  • Advisor valued initiative and student input.
  • Advisor utilized different and creative approaches to educating and assisting members.
  • Advisor served as a positive role model.
  • Advisor helped the organization reach its goals.
