  • Greater Des Moines Third Annual Entrepreneur Field Days Series (in-person):
    • Event Description: Entrepreneur Field Days is a series of free educational events around the region where attendees can network and hear from successful entrepreneurs. It all started with the idea that entrepreneurs learn best from entrepreneurs. Take someone's hard-earned lessons and shared skills to jump-start business success.     • Event Description: Join the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce for one of the year’s most anticipated events, the Fall Forecast, where top experts bring clarity to today’s economy and insights into tomorrow. This powerhouse panel will explore national and local trends, supply chain shifts, workforce challenges, real estate and construction outlooks, and the forces shaping 2026.
  • Wednesday, October 15 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. CT (online): Business Record Jobs Outlook - 2026 Forecast
    •  Event Description: Iowa is entering the fourth quarter of 2025 with some worrisome trends: The number of Iowans who are unemployed has steadily increased since the start of the year. Iowa’s finance and insurance sector has shed nearly 2,000 jobs in the past 12 months and the manufacturing sector, 5,400 jobs. Recent college graduates having a difficult time landing their first jobs.

      Bright spots exist, though. Iowa’s labor force participation rate is increasing. Demand remains high for health care providers. Emphasis on career and technical education is increasing in Iowa’s high schools.

      At our Jobs Outlook, the Business Record will be joined by a panel of leaders who will help us look at what the job market in 2026 might bring. At this event, we will also recognize the winner of our Dentons HR Professional of the Year award.

    • Event Description: We’ve all been there. You have something important to say but worry about how it will be received. Whether it’s offering feedback in a high-stakes meeting, addressing a performance concern, or navigating emotionally charged discussions, difficult conversations are an essential part of leadership. The good news? We can all develop skills to approach these interactions with confidence and clarity.

      In this interactive session, we’ll explore approaches inspired by Kim Scott’s Radical Candor, focusing on balancing empathy with directness. Whether you lean into conflict or try to avoid it, you’ll walk away with practical tools to communicate with clarity and confidence.

    • Event Description: Leaders from Principal Financial will share insights on how analogies can bridge the gap between complex data concepts and non-technical audiences. You’ll hear real-world examples from team members who’ve used analogies to make their work more relatable and impactful.

      But this isn’t just a sit-and-listen event—we’re making it hands-on! We will have a breakout session, each table will be assigned a topic and challenged to craft a compelling analogy. It’s a fun way to sharpen your storytelling skills and collaborate with peers.
