About us
Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) is the international honorary organization for financial information professionals. The Alpha Pi Chapter strives to cultivate an increased interest and awareness the accounting field, both in its members and in the other students at the University of Iowa and connect students with future employers. We are built on the foundation of community service, professional development, and academic excellence.
How to join

What’s required?
Candidates should be Accounting majors with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and must be enrolled in or have completed ACCT:2200 Managerial Accounting.
Commitment
Candidates are required to complete 20 hours per semester, including 10 professional hours and 10 service hours. Hours can be earned through our weekly professional meetings, networking events, mock interviews, resume reviews, community service events, tutoring or mentorship, VITA, etc.
Meet the Firms Night
Each fall, Beta Alpha Psi hosts a career fair that is open to all Tippie College of Business accounting majors. More than 30 firms attend the event looking to hire students like you to fill their internships and full-time positions. You will meet employers that represent an array of industries that range from accounting and financial services to manufacturing and consulting.
VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)
We partner with the Johnson County Outreach Services to provide free tax services for low- to moderate-income taxpayers in the Iowa City area. Once our members are certified by the IRS, they help taxpayers file electronically so that they can get their refund quickly. In 2015, our VITA locations prepared over 1,100 tax returns with approximately $1.5 million in tax refunds.
Accounting Society
The Accounting Society is a branch of Beta Alpha Psi designed to help first-year students and sophomores explore the accounting degree. We transform our members from students to young professionals and focus on making sure you have the best experience studying accounting at Tippie.
