About us

Women in Business is a student organization at the University of Iowa that breaks down the common barriers that women face by connecting them with professional development, leadership, community service, and networking opportunities. Our organization is committed to empowering women to improve their lives while also inspiring them to improve the lives of others.

This semester, Women in Business plans to offer diverse and engaging speakers, fun social events, opportunities to get involved with community service and fundraising initiatives, a Mentoring Program that connects members to like-minded female professionals, professional trips, and internal networking opportunities to connect with other Women in Business members.

How to join

Complete our membership form and attend virtual information sessions. We hold meetings every other Wednesday night at 8 p.m.

Tippie Women Summit

Every spring Women in Business partners with the College to invite influential leaders to join us for the Tippie Women Summit. On this day, we focus on building each other up and learning from other ground-breaking women. Past speakers include the head of surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and the president of the Oprah Winfrey Network.

Speed networking

Speed networking events give you a chance to speak with local professionals about their own career paths and how to stand out when you embark on your own. You will get to sit down with these women and talk to them for a timed rotation before moving on to the next professional.

Professional trips

Each semester we take our members on a professional trip to various cities in the Midwest. During these trips, you will get a chance to learn about the world of business outside of Tippie and what it takes to be successful as a woman. The trips typically include 4–8 company visits, charter bus, hotel stay, a night of fun entertainment, and a free meal.
